Résumé : | This is an overview of the VET system in Cyprus. Information is presented according to the following themes : 1. External factors influencing VET : political and socioeconomic background, population statistics, economy and labour market ; educational attainment. 2. Providing vocational education and training in a lifelong learning perspective : government‐regulated VET provision (apprenticeship, VET at upper secondary, post-secondary and tertiary level) ; other forms of training (training for employees, for the unemployed, for other groups at risk exclusion, for adults in general). 3. Shaping VET qualifications : qualifications systems and frameworks (implementation of a National Qualifications Framework (NQF) ; implementing a unit-based credit system ; quality assurance, accreditation and recognition ; Europass) ; anticipation of labour market needs (Human Resource Development Authority ; Ministry of Finance ; Ministry of Education and Culture). 4. Promoting participation in vocational education and training : incentives for participation in vocational education and training ; guidance and counselling (students and young persons ; adults - employed, unemployed and inactive).
